A visit from Beth

Last week Beth came to visit Balin and meet Athena. We had a quiet week that included two trips to the doctor for Athena and a day in the city with both kids to visit a museum and to see Josh at work.

Since Athena was recovering from ear infections and RSV, she was happy to have another friend around for snuggling. (She’s all better now.) Here are the stats from Athena’s two-month checkup: 10 pound 14 ounces (50th percentile) and 23 1/4 inches long (75th percentile). Athena will be going back this week for vaccines and another check of her ears.

On Saturday, Beth gave Athena her first bottle. She drank it with no complaints, but was a bit cranky for the rest of the day. After drinking another bottle yesterday, Athena was again unusually unsettled. We are hoping that she will adjust more to the bottle soon.

Athena’s hair continues to look crazy, sticking up in all directions and she still has super-flaky-cradle-cap scalp. All her hair hides the flakes, but also gets in the way when trying to treat them. She tends to look like a little grease monkey frequently.

Athena is starting to smile and make more facial expressions while awake. We’ve tried to capture these in her photo album. Here’s a little bit of a smile.

Balin was really sad to see Beth go. Throughout the week, he had fun teaching her how to do puzzles, driving cars and trains, and reading books. Beth got to hear phrases like “can you play?”, “I want some breakfast,” “again,” and “three more books.”

Ack! Too bad I have my eyes closed in the first picture or it would have been a good one.

I miss you guys….but not Percy.

  2. Elizabeth Says:

Is that Beth B from high school? How cool! Glad to see her, plus you (Sherri) and the kids. :)
